OUCCI President’s Address at the 5th AGM and Launch of Membership Management System
The Orang Ulu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OUCCI) marked a significant milestone during its 5th Annual General Meeting with the official launch of its new Membership Management System.
In his keynote address, OUCCI President Datuk Nelson Balang Rining outlined the Chamber’s strategic alignment with Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), reaffirming OUCCI’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable economic development, particularly in the northern and interior regions of Sarawak.
OUCCI’s Strategic Contributions to PCDS 2030
President Datuk Nelson Balang Rining highlighted six key focus areas where OUCCI is actively supporting the PCDS 2030 goals:
- Economic Prosperity & Inclusivity
- Promoting indigenous entrepreneurship among Orang Ulu communities.
- Facilitating market access and investment for rural businesses.
- Supporting agro-based industries, eco-tourism, and community enterprises.
- Education & Human Capital Development
- Partnering with government and private sectors for TVET programs.
- Creating entrepreneurial training incubators.
- Organizing internships and mentorships for youth.
- Infrastructure & Digital Connectivity
- Advocating for rural broadband expansion.
- Championing e-commerce platforms for indigenous products.
- Promoting SME digitalization.
- Green Economy & Environmental Sustainability
- Encouraging sustainable land use and organic farming.
- Supporting renewable energy projects in remote villages.
- Collaborating on carbon trading and biodiversity-based economic activities.
- Community Wellbeing & Resilience
- Promoting healthcare outreach and wellness programs.

Key Initiatives (2025–2027)
To further its mission, OUCCI will undertake the following strategic actions:
- Establish the OUCCI Business & Innovation Hub for rural entrepreneurs.
- Create a PCDS 2030 Taskforce to coordinate with the Sarawak State Government.
- Host an Annual Indigenous Business Summit in collaboration with MINTRED.
- Launch the OUCCI Development Fund for startups and community businesses.
- Document success stories and publish impact reports aligned with PCDS KPIs.
OUCCI continues to be a catalyst for economic empowerment and sustainable development for the Orang Ulu community and the broader Sarawak region.
